GLENN & LINN BOESE
WORLDVENTURE - Cote d'Ivoire

We asked you to pray that we would have wisdom in planning for the future, wanting to follow the Lord's leading closely. It has been a long and difficult passage, watching the situation in Ivory Coast move toward peace and a coalition government, then backwards again to a standoff. The rebel forces still control the north of the country, where we work. Some medical personnel have returned to work at the hospital, but the situation is not a good one for families. After pursuing other possible ways in which we could meet our son Bryn's educational needs and yet still accomplish some ministry goals, we finally came to the conclusion that our best option is to remain in the States until Bryn is in college. With the next Ivory Coast elections scheduled for the fall of 2005, we are now aiming to return-as an empty-nest couple-in January 2006. Many friends and supporters have helped us process this decision, enabling us to sort the data and needs and possibilities. That wisdom we so desperately needed came slowly, but in the end, with powerful affirmation. Our sending church (Highland Park Baptist), our supervisors in CBInternational, and our field ministry team have each approved our proposal to do United States based ministry during this time, staying on active status. We have asked for affirmation from each of our supporters and every week brings more responses, which have all been positive. This is what this ministry phase looks like at this time: "Missionaries-in-Residence" at Highland Park Baptist Church in Southfield, Michigan, promoting missions and training mission teams (as requested we will have a similar ministry in our other supporting churches in the area); completion of Linn's Master of Divinity degree at Michigan Theological Seminary, which is necessary equipping for the translation project; retooling for Glenn through informal education in the areas of lay leadership mentoring and training, as well as counseling; oversight of the Nyarafolo Project team through occasional visits and email; participation in the "Africa Ministries Team" as member care resource people; and directors of a new field opening soon in northern Ghana.
