Missions to the Americas - Chicago
Our Sankofa Student Ministry began at the Illinois Institute of Technology, located near downtown Chicago, twenty-seven years ago. Maya began grad school there this past fall and has grown greatly as a leader of the group over the course of this year. Last year's student leader, Angelina, has come after work often two nights a week to assist Curtis Reed and me with the ministry on campus. Steven is a home schooled freshman who has joined us this year. Please pray for his maturity as a potential leader of the future. Wyatt is an Illinois Institute of Technology non-Christian who loves me to my surprise. I love relating to him. Join me and his father, who is a pastor, in praying for Wyatt's salvation.
Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois, is a large school where I have preached in the black student church on several visits this school year. Please pray that Tabana and other student leaders will be able to bring several students to our May retreat on May 15-18.
I visit DePaul University on the north side of Chicago two days each week and Curtis is there one day a week. I am thrilled with the increased number of students attending and leading Bible studies sponsored by the Gospel choir on that campus. Pray for Daniel and Kate who are driving a group of DePaul students to the May retreat in the school van. Pray for Latina Williams, an Intervarsity staff worker, who also gives her life to this group at DePaul.
Northern Illinois University in DeKalb is my tough spot this year. Please pray for wisdom and patience as I stand along side students who were nurtured at Keystone Baptist Church. We appreciate your continued concern and prayer for the shortage of support for Curtis Reed and me. We are ever grateful for your partnership.
